A groomer’s clippers are imperative. If the clippers aren’t running, then neither are you. There are a few things that you can do to keep your clippers running better and longer. 1) Oil your blades. As much as you hate to do it, oiling your blades is important. It keeps friction down and helps the clipper by not causing it to overwork to make the blades move. 2) Clean your clippers. Try to prevent hair from getting wrapped around the bearing that you can see. The hair will force the motor to work harder. 3) Change your blade drive. Blade drives are plastic. The constant motion of your clippers will wear them down. It affects the cut and affects how the clippers run. Depending on how much you groom, you should be changing these every other month or even monthly. 4) Get your clippers serviced. A professional will take the motor apart and clean it out, replacing the brushes that keep your clippers running smoothly. If you feel like your clippers don’t really run like they used to, getting them serviced could help. Not only do I sharpen your clipper blades and shears, I service and repair clippers as well. You should have them serviced at least twice per year depending on how much volume you do. The clippers will perform better and last longer if you do.
